Web project manager Lena Raske and her helpers raised £297 for Kent Greyhound Rescue to help pay for medical treatment for Holly, a greyhound who had been abused.
The Appledore charity saved the dog’s life, and she is now recovering and living with a foster family, but the charity is likely to face an enormous bill for her treatment.
Volunteer Julie McCarthy brought Holly into the Newingreen office along with two of her own dogs, Bingo and Kipper.
The trio were a huge hit with the staff – as were the brownies, muffins, cupcakes and cookies baked by Lena, who had spent more than six hours cake-making over the previous two evenings.
Lena, a volunteer with the charity, said: “We raised double what I expected. People gave very generously – some people donated £10 or even £20.
“I think it really helped that the dogs were here so people could see what they were giving for. They got lots of attention – people loved them.”
Julie said: “I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone at HolidayExtras.com for being so generous.”
Holly is now looking for a permanent home. Anyone interested in rehoming Holly or another greyhound should contact Kent Greyhound Rescue on 07968 599982 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
