Scrimping stags and hens' high expectations

It appears that stag and hen dos are not immune to spending cuts, a new poll from HolidayExtras.com has found.

Despite the fact that the majority of those asked fancy a trip abroad, almost a quarter (23%) of people would not want to spend more than £100 on a weekend away to celebrate theirs or a friend’s big day, and 40% would budget between £100 and £250.

The lure of casinos and dancing girls is too much for 42% of men, who long for a week in Las Vegas while women would prefer a more cultural break, with almost one in two (48%) claiming that they would ideally head off to a European city for their hen do.

It does seem that stags get into the spirit more than hens, with over 21% of men admitting that they would be happy to blow over £500 while just 7% of women would be willing to do the same.

HolidayExtras.com’s head of product innovation and development, Anthony Clarke Cowell, said: “We men do tend to get over-excited at the prospect of a stag do, so I’m not surprised at these results! It is interesting to note that most people want to head overseas but they are not willing to pay over the odds for the experience.”
