A recent poll by HolidayExtras.com, the UK’s largest travel add-ons provider, confirms that Britain is a nation of pet lovers.

When asked whether or not they will be spoiling their pets this Christmas, almost two thirds of owners (63%) claim that they will be treating their family pets, either with presents (52%) or by cooking up their very own festive feast (11%).

And more than half (51%) of HolidayExtras.com customers who have a pet, say that they plan their holidays around their beloved critters: 12% admit they have fewer holidays because of them; 37% work around the availability of pet sitters; and 2% choose only animal-friendly destinations.

For a significant number though, household beasts do not seriously affect their Christmas or holiday plans. Thirty-seven per cent of owners polled don’t have any seasonal treats in store for their pets and 49% send mutts and mogs to the kennel or cattery when going away.
