As part of its £0.5 million investment in hassle-free technology, HolidayExtras.com has enlisted the help of renowned Node.js expert, Felix Geisendörfer.
One of the world’s top five Node.js core contributors and co-founder of web service transloadit.com, Felix is working with the UK’s market-leading travel add-ons provider as a consultant from January 2012, helping to build the company’s new Application Programming Interface (API) in Node.js. He is expected to visit the company’s headquarters based in Kent every quarter, with regular monthly remote catch-ups.
Felix’s expertise will prove invaluable as HolidayExtras.com develops its new API with the aim of vastly improving performance in speed. The resulting API will be used by the current website, a new website and affiliate sites, to present products to customers within one second, thereby enhancing the user experience and supporting the company’s hassle-free proposition.
Based in Berlin, Felix runs a consultancy called debuggable and has previously helped HolidayExtras.com in the early stages of the API build and a VOIP system due to go live in the next few months.
