HolidayExtras.com supports National Council of Work Experience awards

Holiday Extras’ Nikki Chandler at the NCWE awards

The UK’s market-leading travel add-ons provider sponsors ‘Best Large Organisation – Long-Term Placements’ category

HolidayExtras.com was one of eight firms to sponsor this year’s NCWE awards, which took place on Tuesday March 20 at the Merchant Taylors’ Hall, London.

The National Council for Work Experience is an organization which promotes, encourages and supports the development of work experience placements in the UK. The awards, in its ninth year, recognise businesses that offer opportunities to the young workforce.

HolidayExtras.com has been providing work experience and industrial placements to young people for a number of years. Each year, the Kent-based firm offers five 12-month industrial placements within the web delivery team. In 2012, it is also offering eight summer placements within its PR, SEO, online advertising and merchandising departments. All students are paid £14,000 per annum and receive the same benefits as the rest of its team.

In 2011, HolidayExtras.com also formed a partnership with local university CCCU (Canterbury Christ Church University). Leaders of its creative teams held talks to students at the university on PR, SEO, online advertising and copywriting. And as part of their course, the students were set a piece of work, which counted towards their final mark. Best performers were invited to spend three months at HolidayExtras.com to gain valuable experience during a paid summer placement.

Anouk Agussol, Head of People at HolidayExtras.com, commented: “Offering young people the experience they need to get a foot in today’s tough job market is something that’s important to HolidayExtras.com. We were delighted to sponsor this award.”
