Local travel add-ons company raise £482 for cancer charities

During the first week of March, the team at Hythe-based were greeted by a table groaning with fruit, healthy treats and energy-boosting juice as part of their twice-yearly well-being week.

Colleagues were encouraged to keep fit throughout the five days by taking part in circuit training and zumba classes. An exercise bike was also placed in the breakout area with a pledge that for every mile cycled, the company would donate a pound to Ovarian Cancer Action and the Prostate Cancer Charity.

As the week went on, the cycle challenge soon became a race between departments. The web delivery team cycled the most miles with one member of the Partnerships team pedaling 8.98 kilometers in 10 minutes. Altogether, an astonishing 382 miles were cycled and with the help of COO Matthew Paxton, the team raised a grand total of £482.

The five days didn’t run at such a fast pace for everyone, and people also had the opportunity to indulge in relaxing head and shoulder massages from the comfort of their own desk. Those who couldn’t get enough of the special treatment could head to the chill-out area for a soothing session in a massage chair.

The week was rounded off nicely with a hearty and healthy buffet lunch.

Anouk Agussol, Head of People, said: “These events really make a difference to our working environment, and it’s things like this that make us a Sunday Times Top 100 Best Company to work for.

“Life at demands creativity and energy, and we like to say thank you to our fantastic team for their consistent commitment and hard work. We believe that it’s really important for everyone to have a balance of fun and work, and helping people with their physical and emotional well-being is one of the ways we can do this.”
