Agents will be invited to share their ideas on how they can contribute to making holidays more sustainable via the monthly newsletter, the Holiday Extras Facebook page, Twitter and agent website in July.
The best idea will be chosen at the end of July and one lucky agent will walk away with an Off Grid Voltaic Backpack, which charges devices such as mobile phones, iPods, cameras and PDAs using the power of the sun.
Andrea Clayton, Head of Insurance and Retail Partnerships at Holiday Extras, said: “Make Holidays Greener is a great campaign and we encourage as many agents as possible to get involved. It’s a fantastic prize too!”
Sue Hurdle, Chief Executive of the Travel Foundation, said: “We’re hoping
this year’s Make Holidays Greener campaign will be the biggest ever and
we’re urging the whole travel industry to get involved and help us spread
the message to consumers that greener holidays are better holidays.
“It’s great to have the support of Holiday Extras, and we can’t wait to
hear the suggestions agents come up with. Good luck to everyone who
enters the competition.”
Make Holidays Greener, organised by The Travel Foundation, will run throughout July this year, with the aim of encouraging travellers to do just one thing that will help benefit the local people and protect the environment in their holiday destinations.
Holiday Extras’ customers donate around £25,000 a year to The Travel Foundation as part of the company’s donation scheme.
