Brits driven purely by price when choosing holiday destinations

British holidaymakers find the best deals online

A huge 61% of Brits say they select their holiday by searching online for the best deals, a new poll reveals.

Gone are the days when we would seek out the most exotic locations from glossy brochures, Brits now go wherever is cheapest – and most find it online.

Seventeen per cent of HolidayExtras.com customers decide where to go based on recommendations from friends, while 13% stick to what they know and head for the same place year after year.

Travel magazines provide inspiration for eight per cent of travellers and a miniscule one per cent watch travel TV to pick their destination.

Anthony Clarke Cowell, Associate Merchandising Director at HolidayExtras.com, said: “These results show just how important the internet is now to consumers, playing a pivotal role in their holiday decision-making, and increasingly overshadowing other channels when it comes to booking.”
