Flying first class has topped the wish list for 60 per cent of women who are dreaming of a luxury getaway this Valentine’s Day, according to a national poll by Holiday Extras.
The results revealed that the romance of Paris hasn’t lost its lustre, with over a third of couples naming the city as the ideal backdrop for a Valentine’s Day treat. Venice was also the city of choice, with a quarter of men and 33 per cent of women listing this traditional hotspot as a great place for romancing.
It seems that attention to detail goes a long way with lovebirds, a bottle of champagne waiting for you in the hotel room was also voted as one of the top three romantic gestures. Lovers are keen to start their romantic break as soon as possible, with almost a fifth choosing a stay in a luxury airport hotel as the perfect way to start a romantic break.
James Lewis, head of partnerships at Holiday Extras, commented: “The old favorite Valentine’s Day gestures including a first class trip to Paris haven’t lost their appeal. My advice would be to pre-book elements of the trip such as parking to make the best of your budget. And, to impress your partner even more, book a luxury airport hotel for the night before your flight.”
Notes to editors:
The survey information was gathered from 1,300 Holiday Extras customers at the end beginning of February 2013.
