Holiday Extras team to raise £1,000 in charity abseil

abseilingA charity abseil from a Folkestone landmark in June by the Holiday Extras team will raise funds for Folkestone, Dover and Hythe Samaritans’ 50th anniversary.

Holiday Extras has chosen to support The Samaritans by inviting volunteers from their team to jump off the roof of the Leas Cliff Hall events centre to the base of the Leas Cliffs. Fourteen people from Holiday Extras will be sponsored to rappel 90 feet down, thankfully while safely suspended from ropes. They are even producing their own T-shirts for the event.

The event has been organised by Amanda Struby, People Administrator at Holiday Extras.

Matthew Pack, Holiday Extras CEO, commented, “I love that our guys are so committed to helping The Samaritans – they provide such an essential service.”

A spokesperson from Folkestone, Dover & Hythe Samaritans commented, “Our 24-hour helpline offers emotional support for anyone in crisis.  Listening and befriending people in our area who are isolated, in despair or suicidal, and the support of Holiday Extras at this time means a very great deal to us.”

The Holiday Extras team are just one of the groups taking part in the event and will be going over the top on 9th June. They’re aiming to raise £1,000 between them. This is the latest fund-raiser by Holiday Extras’ Team Charity, who help to raise money for local causes throughout the year.
