Junior pole vaulting champion Ellie Gooding’s chance of competing on the international stage has been given a major boost with a sponsorship deal with Holiday Extras worth £1,000. Along with help towards her training, Holiday Extras is providing UK free parking and hotels throughout the 2014 season.
Ellie, 17, from Folkestone, enjoyed a string of victories throughout the 2013 season at both regional and national level and was selected to represent England at the Welsh International meet, adding another Gold to her name. This year, competitions include The British Indoor in Sheffield, and The British Outdoor in Birmingham.
With a chance of competing at the World Junior Championships in America this year, and aspirations for the Olympics, Ellie is in with a real possibility of making a huge impact on the international stage.
With yearly expenditure of approximately £7,000 for equipment, travel and training, Ellie’s success comes at a price. The sponsorship package provided by Holiday Extras will go some way to enabling her to continue competing on the main stage, and supporting her funding for the future.
Ellie said: “It has really helped with so many areas of my training to have this sponsorship from Holiday Extras. I do such a lot of travelling and always need new equipment…the expenses really do mount up.”
Matthew Pack, CEO at Holiday Extras commented: “We are delighted to be sponsoring Ellie – she is an outstanding young athlete and I wish her every success for 2014.”
