Jordon Mann wins the Community Sport Project of the Year 2016.

The team at local travel company Holiday Extras have another chance to breakaway from their desks, all thanks to netball-loving Jordon Mann who has worked for the company for the last two years. With a keen interest and 13 years of netballing experience, Jordon has got together with Shepway Sports Trust to give back to the community. Her efforts have resulted in being awarded the Community Sport Project of the Year 2016.

Setting out to encourage participation in netball workplace exercise, Jordon helped to develop “Tri-Fusion Netball” – an adaptation to the traditional game including less rules with smaller team; for a fun, fast-paced game. Holiday Extras’ people now have the chance to get involved and find out what it’s all about during regular lunchtime sessions.

Classes have been popular with 25 players meeting each week.  Fifteen of the team are enjoying the sport so much, they have entered into the Folkestone Netball League.

Laurence Hickmott, Project Director at Shepway Sports Trust said: “We have been really impressed with Jordon’s passion and commitment to the Tri-Fusion project. It is also very refreshing to work with such a forward thinking and progressive organisation as Holiday Extras. The fact they view sport and physical activity as an important part of their employees lives is reassuring and fits in very nicely with our ethos at Shepway Sports Trust. Congratulations to Jordon and everyone involved with the Tri-Fusion Netball at Holiday Extras, it was a well-deserved award”

Jordon said: “Well-being is a huge focus for us and it’s brilliant that we’ve got the facilities to be able to launch these classes. I’m excited about the possibility of delivering a similar programme in other organisations, investing in health and well-being”.
