Holiday Extras, the travel extras specialist, rolls out a Free Hotel Cancellation policy for all of its hotels this year; applicable for up to 24 hours before the stay date.
The move follows an in-depth test which showed that customers are more likely to purchase a hotel when they are offered the flexibility of a free cancellation.
Of those that were offered the Free Hotel Cancellation during the testing period, 6% did eventually cancel their booking and receive a full refund. Meanwhile, Holiday Extras saw a 4% improvement of bookings from customers booking stays more than a week in advance of travel, which they put down to a greater confidence that a refund would be obtained in the event that a cancellation was required.
The free cancellation applies to both hotel room only stays and the Holiday Extras hotel with holiday parking inclusive packages.
Ant Clarke Cowell, communications director for Holiday Extras said: “We wanted our customers to enjoy the flexibility and peace of mind that free cancellation brings. The feedback we received was that our customers want to book ahead but don’t want to lose out if plans change. This move will improve our customer’s journey as well as enhancing our booking conversion levels – we have already seen an uplift in conversion from our test group.”
