Prince Harry is the Royal most Brits would like to be stranded on a desert island with, a study* has found today.
The research with over 2,500 adults across the UK revealed that almost half (43 per cent) would chose to be shipwrecked with Harry ahead of his brother and sister-in-law William and Kate. In fact, despite charming the nation with the birth of their third child this week, the couple received less than a third of votes combined (29 per cent).
The findings also revealed that only one in ten Brits (13 per cent) would feel most comfortable being marooned with Queen Elizabeth II, and that less than five per cent would choose to spend time with Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall on a desert island.
The poll was run by by HolidayExtras.com, who provide travel extras such as airport lounges, hotels and parking at airports around the UK and abroad.
The study also looked at the public’s predictions for where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will head for their honeymoon.
Forty-one per cent of those polled think that the pair will go on a nostalgic trip to the Caribbean, the setting for the princes’ first holiday with Princess Diana following her separation from Prince Charles in 1993.
Almost a third (27 per cent) believe that Australia will be the destination of choice for Meghan and Harry after they tie the knot, following in the footsteps of Prince Charles and Camilla’s official state visit earlier this year.
Twenty-one per cent of people said that they think Harry will follow his title and head to Wales for his honeymoon; becoming the first Royal to honeymoon in the UK since 2005, when Prince Charles and Camilla visited Birkhall in Scotland as part of their celebrations.
Ant Clarke Cowell at Holiday Extras, said: “The Royals hold a very special place in our hearts and, as the family expands, we were interested to see who would be the nation’s favourite castaway companion.
“With his fun and friendly reputation, it’s not surprising to see that Harry topped our poll. However, he may be competing for the number one spot pretty soon judging by the public’s reaction to the birth of the royal baby!
“The honeymoon destination choice for Harry and Megan is sure to set a travel trend – wherever they decide to visit, holidaymakers and honeymooners are bound to follow.”
